About
50 Things About Me Being 50

Quality of life rests upon those relationships, beliefs, ideas, principles, and activities that you find to value. After reaching this time in my life it feels as though I have begun yet again. My understanding is that I am not alone in the wonder and awesomeness of reinventing myself one more time, and most likely this will not be for the last time either. Mark (The Husband) and I have a most eclectic (he will hate my characterizing anything about us in this way) life. Between his parents who live with us, and my grown sons who flit in and out depending on the season and the current home improvement project, our home seems to be in a constant state of contracting and expanding, much like the act of breathing.
When I reinvented myself at thirty, I became a teacher. At fifty, my career has led me to my current position as a principal of a really small school. It’s actually a temporary haven for young women ordered by the court into placement. A unique teaching experience. All the young women that come to us are at-risk, most hate school, many have trouble with their parents, and some have drug and/or alcohol problems. My job is to lead a team of talented and dedicated teachers and assistants to help these young women develop hope for themselves, their families, and their future.
